Pediatric Dental Care
Without proper oral health care, children have a high risk of decay and oral disease, which can cause a lifetime of complications and pain. Today, dental decay in children is five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever.
Our providers are dedicated to improving the oral health of children from the first tooth through the teen years. They care for a child’s teeth, gums, and mouth through the various stages of childhood. Children begin getting their baby teeth during the first 6 months of age. By the age of 6, they begin losing their first set of teeth, which will eventually be replaced by an adult set.

Tips for Promoting Good Oral Health at Home
There are a number of methods that parents can use to support positive oral health habits for their children, such as:
- Letting your child pick their own toothbrush: this will let them feel in control and entice them to want to brush. You can even let your child pick out the kind or flavor of toothpaste they want to use.
- Brush those teeth together: make brushing teeth a family activity. Healthy habits are learned, and you are your child’s biggest role model. Learn more about best home oral health care practices.
- Play a song and brush along: many songs are around 2 minutes long, which is how long you should be brushing your teeth (twice a day). Use the song as a timer.
- Explain to your child exactly what brushing and flossing do for their teeth and overall health: this not only gives them a better understanding, but also uses a bit of a scare tactic “you don’t want your teeth falling out and not have anything to eat with?! How will you eat your yummy chicken nuggets with no teeth?!”
